Wahiduddin Mahmud is Professor of Economics, University of Dhaka. He was Advisor (Minister) for Finance and Planning of the non-party Caretaker Government of Bangladesh in 1996. His recent publications include an edited volume of the International Economic Association titled Adjustment and Beyond: The Reform Experience in South Asia He completed his matriculation from Annada Government High School, Brahmanbaria. Then He moved to Dhaka to study Economics in Dhaka University. He obtained his PhD in economics from Cambridge University.He joined University of Dhaka as a professor of economics. He is a member of International Growth Centre based at London School of Economics. He has held positions at Cambridge University, Oxford University, IDS at Sussex, IFPRI, and the World Bank. He was part of many government committees and commissions in Bangladesh relating to micro-finance, national income, agricultural reforms, PRSP and MDG monitoring. He has also participated in Five Year Plans for Government of Bangladesh. He has co-founding chairman for PKSF, the apex organization for funding the micro-credit programs of NGOs in Bangladesh.


Debapriya Bhattacharya is an economist and public policy analyst from Bangladesh. He was the first executive director of Centre for Policy Dialogue in Dhaka. He also worked as a senior research fellow at Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS). Bhattacharya's father, Debesh Bhattacharya, was a lawmaker. He served as a Supreme Court jurist. Bhattacharya's mother, Chitra Bhattacharya, was a member of parliament of the Government of Bangladesh during 1996 to 2001. Bhattacharya attended St Gregory's High School and Dhaka College. He earned his MSc and PhD in economics at the Plekhanov Institute of the National Economy, Moscow. He served as an executive director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD).In 2007 Bhattacharya was appointed Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the WTO and UN Office in Geneva. A year later he resigned from the post citing "moral and ethical grounds".

Dr Fahmida Khatun is the Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), a leading think tank in South Asia. She has accomplished Masters in Economics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. She did another Masters in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics and PhD in Economics from the University College London, UK. She worked on ICT and SDGs with Professor Jeffery Sachs during her Fellowship at Columbia University. She was a Visiting Fellow at Christian Michelsen Institute (CMI), Norway (1994), Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade (KIET), South Korea (2012) and Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), India (2016).

Mushtaq Husain Khan is a heterodox economist and professor of economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Educated as an exhibitioner at Corpus Christi College, Oxford, Khan graduated with a first-class BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics in 1981.In 1982, he received his MPhil from King's College, Cambridge, where he would complete a Ph.D. in 1989. From 1990 to 1996, Khan was both fellow and lecturer in economics at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and assistant director of development studies at Cambridge, a prestigious post held by, among others, John Toye and Ha-Joon Chang. In 1996, Khan took up a post at SOAS, where he was made a professor in 2005. Several of his articles have won prizes, including the Hans Singer Prize and the Frank Cass Prize. In addition, he is a regular commentator for the BBC's Bengali service broadcasts.



Professor Mustafizur Rahman is an economist by training. Prior to joining CPD, Professor Rahman taught at Dhaka University where he also served as member of the University Senate. He was a Visiting Post-Doctoral Fellow at Oxford University and Warwick University, UK and a Senior Fulbright Fellow at Yale University, USA. Professor Rahman’s writings have been published by reputed publishing houses and journals in Bangladesh and abroad. He has served as a member of various national bodies set up by the Government of Bangladesh including National Coal Policy Review Committee, Regulatory Reforms Commission and Core Committee on Connectivity. Professor Rahman was member of Panel of Economists for the Sixth and Seventh Five Year Plans of Bangladesh. His recent research works have focused on export sector competitiveness, trade policy and external sector performance, issues of interest to the LDCs in the WTO, regional cooperation and economic integration in South and Southern Asia, macroeconomic management and implementation of the SDGs in Bangladesh.















Mohammad Farashuddin was the 7th governor of Bangladesh bank, The Central Bank of Bangladesh . Sab during 1998 to 2001. He is also the founder of east west University where he was the finding my sensilla 1995 to 1998. He is currently the chairperson of the board of trustees of East West University. He was born in April 18 1942 in syhlet/
Education- Matriculation (SSC) in 1958, Intermediate science in 1960, under the single Education Board securing high merit position. BA Hons in economic from University of Dhaka in 1963 and Masters in 1964. MA (double) and PhD in Economics from Boston University USA in 1978 and 1979 respectfully with CGPA of 3.81. Akbar Ali Khan is a Bangladeshi economist and educationist who served as a bureaucrat until 2001. He was born in nabinagar brahmanbaria sub-division of the Comilla district, in the year of 1944.
Education - He attended nabinagar high school .he passed I.Sc. from Dhaka college in 1961. . He completed his bachelor’s and Master’s from University of Dhaka in history.
Career - He served a teacher in BUET for sometimes.Then he join Civil Service Academy in Lahore (1967-68) and was posted as sub divisional officer (SDO) of Hobigangs in 1969. Later he served as an official of the Mujibnagar government. He was made Cabinet Secretary and worked as a University teacher also. Receiving the Commonwealth scholarship, he studied at the Queen's University Canada for PhD in Economics .In 1984, he joined the Bangladesh public administration training centre. There after until 1987, he worked at the rural development board ,in the water resource ministry and in the BPSC later he was appointed in the Bangladesh embassy in Washington DC and it economic Minister , After that doctor Khan return and join banking division of the financial minister. During the period he reorganized BCCI bank and took over basic bank. He worked in the Environmental Ministry and promoted permanent secretary to government in 1993. Between 1995 and 2001, He worked as the finance Secretary of the country and retired then. He was chosen as alternative executive director of the World bank in 2006. He became one of the advisor of the caretaker government .But he resigned along with other advisor . Sheikh Hasina claimed that Khan and his Associates failed to hold elections and thrown the country into tank. In October 2007, The Government of Bangladesh contribute a regulatory Reform Commission with him as the yeah but he had to fight or RC under pressure.










Anu Mohammad is a Bangladesh economist public intellectual writer editor and political activist. He is the member Secretary of the national committee to project Oil gas mineral resources power and ports. He was born in 22 September 1956, Jamalpur,
Career- He is a Professor at jahangirnagar University since 1982 on Anthropology from 1991 to 2005 . He was a visiting Professor at the University of Winnipog and the University of Manitoba in 2001 and work at Columbia University as a visiting School scholar in 1993. His research and write a written works focus on as current economic and political problems in Bangladesh political economy globalisation social transformation gender issue non-governmental organisation, environment and energy. He is the main member Secretary of the citizens movement platform called National committee of protect Oil gas mineral resources hour and ports.

His appearence on TV Talk Show with his anti establishment position lead to a death threat he received in February 2008. He was injured by the police, in 2009 during a demonstration for testing exploration deals granted by the government to International Oil Companies. He also get arrested on 3rd July 2011 during a Shah Shannon protesting and government anti people agreement. He has written many books on the development of rural society such as Bangladeshi Grameen Samaj Bangladesher Unnayane Ebong Sankat NGO Model, Bangladesh Arthinitir Gotimukh etc.
